Miss Laura Gillham - Principal & Artistic Director

Laura has been a qualified teacher and choreographer since 1999 and has worked as a performer for many years both in the UK and abroad.  

 

In her spare time she still enjoys choreographing and directing locally with shows including West Side Story, Sweeney Todd, Whistle Down the Wind, Guys & Dolls, The Producers and Fiddler on the Roof. 

 

She has also enjoyed working on several music videos and promo tours as choreographer and performed in many productions over the years including pantomimes, stage shows and live vocal concerts. 

 

Her passion lies in training the next generation of dancers and performers and providing a dance and theatre education that is structured and inspiring.

 

 

Miss Hazel Sommerville - Head of Tap Department

Hazel trained at the Millennium Musical Theatre College and holds her associate teaching exams in Tap, Modern, Musical Theatre, Drama and Freestyle.

 

Since she joined GSPA in 2008 she has worked extensively with all departments but her main passion is Tap dance.

 

Her choreography experience includes West Side Story, Gigi, Me and My Girl and Fame back home in Scotlandthe British Gymnastic Championships and various Theatre and Stage Schools throughout the UK

Miss Gemma Matthews - Head of Drama Department

Gemma trained at the Trinity Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London and graduated in 2011 with a Musical Theatre Degree. She was also a member of the National Youth Theatre, studying and performing in London, and took workshops at Central School of Speech and Drama. 

 

Since 2012, Gemma has taught individual acting tutorials and group drama lessons at the prestigious Guildford School of Acting and various other schools across London and Kent.

 

She has performed in numerous shows, tours and festivals and has had several experiences of working in TV Commercials, appearing in the BT Olympic Advert and various Christmas Adverts. She has also appeared in the BBC Drama ‘Holby City ‘as a patient and the Sky 1 Drama ’A Touch of Cloth’.

Miss Laura East - Head of Primary Department

Laura trained at The Centre College of Performing Arts and graduated with dance teacher qualifications with the ISTD for the Ballet, Tap and Modern.

 

Since leaving she has become highly qualified in Childcare and Child Development and has been concentrating on the primary and pre- school age group at GSPA which is her passion.

 

Laura has also attended training provided by The Royal Ballet School and performed for the National Youth Ballet.

Miss Megan Lee

Megan is real home grown talent!  Having trained under Laura Gillham since the age of 8 and following to GSPA when it opened in 2007, Megan went on to train full time at the Miskin Theatre College with a focus on becoming a full time dance teacher.  She then returned to us at the end of her training to become a permanent member of the faculty.  

Mr Christopher Stoddart - Vocal Coach

Chris trained at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts and received a BA Hons in Musical Theatre.  

 

Since graduating Chris has performed all over the world with credits including - Jersey Boys (Piccadilly Theatre), Evita (Dominion Theatre), Evita UK Tour, Lead Singer P&O Cruises, Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat UK Tour.  

 

Whilst Chris isn’t performing he teaches Musical Theatre and Singing in colleges and schools across London.  He is Head of Musical Theatre at London College of Performing Arts.  

Mrs Lucy Kellett-Baines - Vocal Coach

Lucy Kellett-Baines has a wealth of experience. She graduated from Northern College of Music in 2013 and has since been appearing professionally in both Opera and Musical Theatre.  She has been teaching a wide range of repertoire and is enjoying developing the vocal department with Chris here at GSPA.

Mrs Amy Farlie - Studio Manager

Amy trained full time at the Arts Educational Lower School and continued her training at the Arts Educational Performing Arts College. 

 

Her dance career took her around the world performing on board many famous cruise liners as well as on tour to places as far Japan.

 

Her passion for the arts remains and as a fully qualified dance teacher she is perfect for her role within the school. 

 

Alongside her administration role at GSPA, she is always on hand to answer questions, offer advice and keep you up to date with the news within the school.
